Where I Live
We moved to Asia in February 1992 with Unisys Asia Pacific based out of Singapore. After spending over 18 years in Asia we decided as a family to move back to Europe. Because we were not ready to move back to the UK we decided to buy a house in Germany. This could not be a place where we settled full time because we have a 13 year old daughter still requiring schooling.
It was important that we found a suitable location for our daughter’s education. She was born in Singapore and as result was privately educated and used to living in a small safe Island Community. After searching for a suitable location in Europe we emphatically chose Malta where we live during school term returning to Germany whenever we can.
Our Home in Germany
Our home in Germany is in the beautiful Mosel valley in a small village called Pünderich. Pünderich is in the heart of the Mosel wine region within 5 kilometers of Zell famous for its Schwartz Katz brand of wine.
Pünderich is a lively and active community; we were warmly welcomed by all we have met and enjoyed immensely the time we spend in the village. When we are way we miss the splendor of the scenery and the generosity of the people. It is very much part of the Mosel wine industry, with many nationally and internationally well known brands.
The Village Chronicle has been gathering information and recording the history of the village and its people for many years. I have tried to translate a condensed listing which I am sure you will find very interesting, will work through it when time prevails to improve the translation and detail in some of the entries
For more information on Pünderich visit their web site http://www.puenderich.de/ .
Our Home in Malta
We are located in Swieqi a small community within walking distance of St. Julians which has a beautiful bay area with fabulous bars and restaurants. The location is also near Paceville a lively entertainment centre full of pubs and nightclubs with 7 day a week shopping
Malta just oozes history with old fortifications, spectacular churches and sea shore areas. The island is friendly and safe, although driving on the island can be a little fraught. The roads are narrow with horrendous road surfaces and, to be just little critical, the drivers have somewhat dubious road manners. The main mode of transportation for those not wanting risk driving is by Bus. These are very old, but quaint, and each has a unique character, and they are relatively cheap and can take you to most places.
Travelling to and from Malta, is quite easy as there are direct flights to Frankfurt and it also possible to drive from Germany to Malta. To drive to Malta from Germany is absolutely fantastic, as you drive through Germany, Switzerland, Italy (including Sicily) and then catch a high speed ferry from Sicily to Malta.
